christmas13smallOn 19th December 2013, the Choir started the Christmas celebrations with a magical concert of carols accompanied by traditional sounds of Christmas from CityBrass and balanced with readings by Margaret Jowett. The programme covered many old favourites from carol singing traditions together with extracts from Handel’s glorious work, Messiah. The choir joined with CityBrass to perform works by Schutz with CityBrass also performing highlights from ‘The Nutcracker’ and other Christmas music. The audience joined in the singing of traditional carols.

mass reflections poster smallOn 5th November 2013, the choir performed a programme which included the rhythmically electric Haydn 'Theresienmesse' interspersed with motets between the movements. The motets provided a reflection on the mass texts they followed and included gems from Bruckner, John IV and Rheinberger. Natalie Johnson-Hyde (Soprano), Judy Brown (Mezzo), John Findon (Tenor) and David Ireland (Bass) joined the Choir in reflective ensembles as well as singing the solo quartet in the Haydn mass.
