Our Musical Director

Esther Jones has been Musical Director of the Esterhazy Singers since September 2006. She is also Associate Director of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and Musical Director of Brighton Festival Youth Choir. She directs Slough Philharmonic Chorus and UBS Choral Society, and is a senior tutor on the Church Music Skills programme run by the Royal School of Church Music. She is also Director of Music at Christ Church, Epsom Common and sings with the Vox Angelica vocal trio.

Esther is in demand as a teacher, animateur and workshop leader. Recent projects include conducting on the soundtrack of a new BBC film of Brighton Rock, directing the African premiere of Alexander L’Estrange’s Zimbe in Kenya and running a series of training workshops for choral directors across the UK.

Esther read music at Oxford University, where she was organ scholar of University College. She studied choral conducting with Patrick Russill and Paul Brough at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was subsequently awarded the first Open Academy Fellowship: she now teaches there part-time.
